Getting to know weeds and cracks in the roads
Lined with pick-ups, jeeps
Cabs made into homes with one look into them
I looked into everything
Like the red rock caves and coves, man
Who would’ve known
They could hold me so deep
I started stroking the air
With my thumb and my palm
Grit and dirt in between
I never thought I'd mean anything to anyone
but everything fell snug around me
Only water that ran
Through the Pecos and Grande
Were tales of it
No hell or high water man, woman, or daughter
For me to grip
So I'll gulp, graft, roil the rocks, sand
Till all the colors damn bleed
don't tell no one I saw this it's my
only little picture for me
